David Sarlah
david.sarlah@unipv.it

This course will provide advanced knowledge and understanding of modern synthetic asymmetric methods. Students will gain the ability to understand different modes of asymmetric catalysis and how to apply them in chemo-, regio-, and stereoselective transformations.
Educational goals are:
- to develop an understanding and knowledge of synthetic organic strategies and multistep planning.
- to master an understanding of structure-reactivity principles in a variety of chemical structures.
- to gain the ability to devise synthetic strategies for complex molecule construction requiring chemo-, regio-and stereoselective transformations.
- to develop fundamental critical thinking skills, including pattern recognition and analogous reasoning.
Covered topics: synthesis planning by examination of synthesis of terpenoids, alkaloids, polyketides; symmetry in synthetic planning and C-H activation
