The research line is grounded on the need to develop new sustainable approaches for the production of materials. Such approaches aim to extract more value from the materials in use while minimizing the extraction of raw materials and the production of waste. The research activities concern the study and production of ceramic and cementitious materials that use raw-secondary materials, whose reactivity and transformation processes are evaluated.
Specific research themes are:
- Valorisation of secondary raw materials from hydrothermal treatments of biomass, waste and industrial by-products.
- Raw materials and supply chain risk in the ceramic industry.
- Alkaline cements and geopolymers for structural and environmental applications.
